I had always heard of Madeira as a magical place. The verdant nature combined with the huge cliffs make it a unique island and that’s why when I heard that I could spend a few days there for Sarah and Glen’s wedding, I literally counted the days. Sarah and Glen are an amazing couple who came straight from Canada because they were in love with Madeira and the engagement shoot we did a couple of days before the wedding was not only an opportunity to get to know each other but also to start falling in love with this island with such a varied landscape.
The wedding venue was one of the most prestigious with the most history behind it on the entire island: Belmond Reid’s Palace, most famous for being the place where Winston Churchill wrote his unforgettable memoirs. Every corner of Reid’s Palace is unique, tastefully decorated and impresses you with a breathtaking view of the sea.
Both Sarah and Glen got ready there together with their closest friends. Their spontaneity allowed me to capture these moments in a totally natural way and it was fun to photograph the toasts and the many laughs.
The emotional ceremony took place in Funchal Cathedral, famous for being the first church built on the island.
Back at Belmond Reid’s Palace, the party continued with an aperitif with a breathtaking view and several emotional speeches from their loved ones.
After the delicious dinner, it was time for dancing, where I must say, no one spared themselves!

To finish in the best possible way, before my return to Italy, Sarah and Glen and we decided to do one last photo shoot. For this post wedding we chose Pico Do Arieiro, the third highest peak on the island and perhaps the best place ever to enjoy a Madeiran sunset. Well I must say that in my life I had never seen such a sunset. The breathtaking landscape and the magical light allowed us to end these days together in Madeira on a high note, which I must admit will always remain in my heart.
A special thank you therefore goes to this wonderful couple for choosing me as their wedding photographer at Belmond Reid’s Palace and to the many who, from all over the world, allow me to tell their wedding story. In fact, this is just one of the many weddings abroad that I have photographed over the years: England, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland, all the way to Jordan! So wherever you have decided to get married, I will already be with my bags in hand, ready to join you!
