Wedding at Le Filigare, Tuscany

Wedding at Le Filigare: you could arrive here blindfolded, knowing nothing about the place, but as soon as your eyes are free to look around, you will immediately understand where you are.

It would be difficult to find a more Tuscan landscape than this one, impossible to confuse it with any other. It is an ancient land because of its Etruscan origins, it is a ‘cultured’ territory because it is in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, and it is a recognizable landscape because its identifying features are famous throughout the world. It is the hills that chase and embrace each other, the rows of vines lined up in order, the olive trees as far as the eye can see, the woods, and lots and lots of greenery all around.

The two nearest cities, jewels of art and history, are Florence and Siena, and the villages of San Donato in Poggio and Castellina in Chianti. And it is here, on 60 hectares of expertly cultivated land, that tradition and nature, commitment and passion take shape and a name: Le Filigare.

Filigare is not only the name of an ancient village, first documented in the 11th century and known as Fiaccole di sopra due to the custom of lighting it with torches during the feast of the patron saint (Filigare is a dialectal derivation), but it is also the name, now internationally renowned, of an ancient estate.

The Florentine Cassetti Burchi family, who have owned it since the 1970s, have restored it to its former glory after a long restoration, making it not only an organic winery producing products of the highest quality, but also the ideal venue for those who believe that elegance and simplicity are the best guarantees for a successful wedding celebration. Two young English people, Jason and Nicholette, a charming girl with oriental features, also chose Le Filigare for their wedding.

The estate, originally dedicated to local crops, especially wine and oil, has opened up to the wedding sector over the years, developing expertise and professionalism that have been confirmed not only by experts in the field but also by the many couples, especially foreigners, who choose this location for their wedding.

A wedding at Le Filigare offers a wide range of possibilities, thanks to the vastness of the estate and the variety of its spaces. You can choose an elegant outdoor banquet in the magnificent garden overlooking the entire valley, or opt for the refined Sala a volte (vaulted hall), which also offers space for dancing, or the Limonaia (lemon house), a sheltered environment with large windows that allow you to enjoy the wonderful view at all times.

What makes this delightful place even more evocative is the lighting chosen by the owners of the Relais. Above the tables, carefully arranged outdoors, hang precious chandeliers which, perhaps, are intended to evoke the torches that once lit up the village. It seems a risky combination, the rustic and bucolic aspect of the place alongside the striking elegance of the crystal lamps, but the result is surprising and does not clash with good taste.

Guests who are lucky enough to attend a wedding at Le Filigare will have the opportunity, if they wish, to visit the historic cellar and fully experience the value of this land through tastings of the fine wines and olive oil produced here. The estate’s unique location, excellent sun exposure, special microclimate, and complex soil make it an ideal place for producing top-quality products. The care and respect of those who work there, including the use of innovative techniques, have made organic production with high sustainability standards possible.

A wedding at Le Filigare is not only a celebration for the bride and groom, but can also become a celebration of taste, authenticity, aromas, and the simplicity of beauty.
