In this photo shoot you will not find images of lavishly set tables, elegant and refined arrangements, bouquets and floral decorations. Nor will you see portrayals of the colorful and festive guests or the giant wedding cakes accompanied by endless rows of glasses and champagne bottles.
You will only see two Canadian guys, Yann and Rosalie who “escaped” Quebec and after almost 7000 km found themselves immersed in a landscape, just as beautiful as that of their country, but completely different. The charm of the Tuscan hills seduced them too , convincing them to choose Tuscany and one of its most beautiful villages, San Gimignano, as the ideal destination for their elopement. Elopement, romantic getaway or love escape, whatever you want to call it, it seems that even the Anglo-Saxon world, has appropriated a custom that until not too many years ago seemed to belong mainly to southern Italy, Sicily in the lead.
The famous “fuitina,” seemed for a couple the only way to wrest from their respective families a denied consent , putting them in front of a fait accompli . Today the fuitina has a whole other flavor, another meaning, and it is increasingly common that it is chosen as the best solution to seal the union, whether real or simulated, of two people who exchange their yes. Yann and Rosalie are very young, spontaneous, simple.
These gently chasing hills, through paths of vines, of olive trees, of scattered cottages dotted with cypress trees s’ fit perfectly with their naturalness and grace. It is a gentle, familiar, customary landscape. The most moving countryside in existence, a well-known French historian called it. And looking at the pictures, somewhat moving in a way they are too, in the tenderness of their embraces and the looks exchanged.
The two of them alone, without spectators, without the joyful hubbub of family and friends, alone before the magic of this landscape in an intimacy that is perhaps the best condition for the exchange of a promise. The moment of celebration and sharing was experienced with a picnic eaten in the grass under the olive trees, with the scent of food mixed with what the air was full of, the unobtrusive warmth of the sun and all the greenery around.
At the end of the day, with the superb backdrop provided by a dazzling sunset, Yan and Rosalie began to dance, and their light steps were perhaps the most beautiful image of this Tuscan day.
