Chiara and Lorenzo‘s faces may sound familiar. Oh yes, because if you have happened upon this website before, you have probably seen the engagement photo shoot I did for them in the city where they live and where they met, Zurich. For their wedding instead, given the groom’s origins, they chose my city, Rome, and in particular the wonderful Villa Aurelia.
A wedding at Villa Aurelia I think is in every bride and groom’s dream. It is difficult to find in the center of Rome a residence, open to the public, more elegant and refined. Since 1909 owned by the American Academy in Rome, but passed through its history in the hands of several noble and wealthy families, it was built in the 17th century by Cardinal Farnese, in an enviable position, on the top of the Gianicolo Hill and a stone’s throw from Porta San Pancrazio. To the last owner we owe the mighty consolidation and restoration works and, above all, the desire to make it public. Since then Villa Aurelia has been hosting within its vast spaces, indoor and outdoor due to the presence of a beautiful garden, events, weddings, concerts, conferences.
The view from its terrace is a unique spectacle, all of Rome and in the center the Dome. A wedding at Villa Aurelia moreover allows ample freedom and autonomy in organizing and setting up, leaving the bride and groom to choose the catering, the floral decoration, the musicians. In short, having a luxurious setting to create, indulging one’s dreams and desires, a fairytale wedding. And fairytale was the wedding of Chiara and Lorenzo. Among the affection of their loved ones and that special love that binds them. Between the light of the sunset and the poetry of the rain.
