It was just two days ago the news that the San Domenico Palace in Taormina of the Four Seasons chain won in Las Vegas for 2023, the Best Hotel in the World award. This did not surprise me because it was at the San Domenico Palace that I recently did a photo shoot for the wedding of Jonathan and Mariah, an American couple but with Italian roots, who chose it as their location, both to prepare for the event and to celebrate and celebrate it.

Without fear of exaggeration, a wedding at the San Domenico Palace is definitely an experience that, because of the location, beauty, refined luxury and prestige of the hotel, could be called exclusive, certainly unforgettable. Perhaps not accessible to everyone, but dreaming of wanting to spend at least one night in one of the magnificent rooms overlooking the splendid sea of the Gulf of Taormina, is not forbidden.

So charged with history, imbued with memories and suggestions that it could be considered in its own right a monument to the historical and cultural memory of the past century. Illustrious turn-of-the-century travelers have passed through here; writers such as Steinbeck, Mann, Capote, Cocteau, Pirandello; Hollywood divas such as Garbo, Ava Gardner, Liz Taylor, Audrey Hepburn; and homegrown stars, Loren to name one. Famous movie scenes have been filmed here, and in recent times, where series are the trendsetters, the second season of the award-winning The White Lotus certainly contributed to the recent international recognition.

Celebrating a wedding at the San Domenico Palace is like having the chance to enter a dream, full of evocations and dense with promises. The hotel, after two years of work on a careful and very elegant restyling, was acquired by the Four Seasons chain, which has obviously increased its prestige and fame. Its location, with a backdrop of Taormina and its famous volcano, the refined interiors, the cloisters, as many as two, bordered with flowers, the terraces overlooking the sea, the gardens laden with fragrance and color, and the outdoor swimming pool, added to the other attractions, make the San Domenico Palace the most desired location for one’s wedding.

The San Domenico Palace, with a fitness center, a beauty salon, and the aforementioned pool, had already made its reception precious, but it wanted to aim even higher, to fully live up to its prestige, creating for guests experiences that it is now fashionable to call immersive, but which are actually extra opportunities to experience the stay with greater fullness

Is it any wonder Jonathan and Mariah chose to fly from America to this extreme tip of Italy to say yes? The shots are eloquent enough to understand that they did not regret it and that the memory of their wedding at the San Domenico Palace in Taormina will always stay with them.
