Those who know me well enough know that my brother has been living in Canada for several years. It’s been a long time since he left Italy and it’s become normal for us to see each other a couple of times a year or to wish each other Christmas via Skype.

What I will probably never get used to is the fact that I have two wonderful grandchildren and I can’t see them grow up as I would like. Every week we’ve lived together goes by too fast and every time I get used to finally being able to experience them on a daily basis, here comes the time for them to get back on the plane.

That’s why, a few days ago, on a cloudy April afternoon, I decided to take some shots of this crazy, wonderful family. I did it to give them some nice memories of their days in Rome but above all I did it for me. To be able to experience them whenever I feel like it, to feel them close even when we are not physically together.

After all, isn’t this the greatest power of a photograph?
