The seduction and enchantment of the Amalfi Coast traveled all the way to Amarica to persuade Victoria and Matthew to celebrate their wedding in Sorrento. Not surprisingly, the choice is not unusual and perhaps even a bit obvious (sometimes fame and notoriety do not always benefit the charm of a place,) but the Sorrento peninsula has in its beauty a kind of inviolable sacredness that has prevented it from being crushed into a postcard image.
It is difficult to talk about Sorrento, everything or almost everything has been said, declaimed, sung about: a harmony of lights, colors, scents, mysterious suggestions that poets, writers, travelers have captured and exalted in their verses and impressions. A land of love and song that to song and love invites; a land where “ever green is the grass, everlasting the flowers and everlasting the fruits,” as in the verses of a seventeenth-century poet; a land of gentle shores as remembered by its most illustrious son, Torquato Tasso.
The dazzling blue of the sea that embraces this promontory, suspended between the two gulfs, that of the sky that melts into it, the scents that fill the air, the greenery all around, everything seems to tune in a perfect harmony to make this place unique. It seems that Casanova, said that in Sorrento one could not wish without getting. Perhaps word of this may have also reached these two American boys who, with the invaluable help of Wedding Planner Anita Galafate, decided to celebrate their wedding in Sorrento.
With these assumptions, a photographer of a wedding in Sorrento is almost certain to have guaranteed ideal light and weather to get perfect shots, with the help also of the favorable season. Instead, surprise. The day before the wedding, the arrival in Sorrento is accompanied by rain, and concern about the success of the shoot becomes legitimate. The next day, no more rain fortunately, but the sky has held back the gray clouds and the sun does not seem to want to come out into the open.
Yet the enchantment and charm of this place is intact, its beauty almost enhanced by this somewhat milky air that is all around and has given unusual colors even to the sea. The bride and groom are beautiful and their joy seems to infect even the somewhat subdued landscape.
A castle, a few kilometers away, right in the center of the Sorrento Peninsula, welcomed the newlyweds and their guests, as if the spell would never end. It is the Castello Giusso, in Vico Equense, a very old mansion that unfortunately has retained very little of its original appearance, due to all the history that has passed through it and that has often compromised its integrity. Invasions and raids by pirates that had caused its decay, various changes of hands, of use.
The Aragonese, then the Angevins, among the most illustrious owners who restored its splendor, enriching and fortifying it. In the 16th century, several restorations and the arrangement of the garden, with grottoes, fountains, water features contributed to its final arrangement, the one that makes Castello Giusso the ideal place to prolong the magic created by everything around it.
A wedding photographer in Sorrento has in a sense the job made easier, facilitated by the ‘unquestionable beauty of these places and if the bride and groom, as in this case, are beautiful and elegant, the photo shoot will have a very good chance of success.
